Course Summary

Let go of perfectionism and the finer details of a brush and develop the confidence to move freely with a palette knife. 

Throughout the course you will learn how to apply a variety of palette knife painting techniques to create a realistic image from abstract marks.  The basics of painting, such as materials, composition and how to mix and prepare colours, will also be covered.  Ideal for all skill levels.

Heidi Knoepfli

Your Teacher

Heidi Knoepfli is an experienced visual artist and has been teaching art for well over 30 years in Melbourne and England. 

Heidi holds a Graduate Diploma of Education form Melbourne University a Bachelor of Art from Monash University and a Masters of Fine Art from RMIT Melbourne. 

Heidi has a diverse and ongoing art practice in St Kilda encompassing painting drawing installation and performative art. In addition, she has exhibited widely with over 70 exhibition to her credit winning several art prizes and artist in residencies. 

Heidi’s work has been published in several journals etc and is collected here and in Switzerland Holland Germany South Africa + the UK.

Please bring the following materials to your first class:

Acrylic Paints: red, blue, yellow, black and white (No brand preference) 
Tools: Standard pallet knife and small pallet knife (not plastic) empty plastic water jar, rags 
Brushes: Large firm flat brush, small round bristle brush, small thin brush
Medium: Impasto medium (Atelier Gloss medium optional at $16 extra)
Surface: Acrylic painting pad A3 
Essential Extras: 2B pencil

Further materials required will be discussed in the first session. It is expected that materials are likely to cost approx. $45 total 

Notification of a class cancellation will be advised 48 hours prior to the course commencement date. We advise to purchase your materials once you have received email confirmation that your class is proceeding as scheduled. All efforts are made to ensure that our classes proceed to avoid disappointment.
