Course Summary

Learn how to create sketches in ink and use watercolour to add colour. Ink and watercolour is a quick and easy way to capture landscapes, buildings and your favourite things. This class involves a combination of exercises exploring different techniques with watercolour and creating finished sketches. Students will be guided individually and in a group in a safe and supportive environment.

For beginners and those who want to brush up on their sketching skills.

Eleni Rivers

Artist Janet Hayes has had eleven solo exhibitions in Australia and has also been involved in many group exhibitions in the Yarra Valley, Melbourne, Sydney, and Darwin. She has exhibited in overseas exhibitions in the USA, London and touring exhibitions in China, Canada and Europe.

Janet studied art at the Melbourne College of Decoration, life drawing with Con Pappas at Era School, Donvale, and portraiture with artist Daniel Greene in New York.

Among several awards she has received is the Allied Artists of America Award at the Pastel Society of America annual exhibition, New York City in 1993. More recently, in 2019 Janet won the Inaugural John Dudley Portrait Prize for her Self Portrait with hands.

As an artist who shares her skills Janet is a sought after teacher for art classes, workshops, demonstrations and as a judge of art shows and competitions.

Eleni Rivers is a professional artist who has been teaching painting and drawing for over 25 years. 

Eleni completed her MFA at JFK University in Berkeley, California and holds several art degrees from colleges in Australia.

Her paintings, drawings and illustrations have been exhibited and published in many countries and are held in collections both here and in the US.

Now based in Melbourne, Eleni continues her journey in paint on themes of nature, family and belonging within the Australian landscape.
