Course Summary

Introductions to three significant artists of the Late Medieval / Early Renaissance period: Giotto di Bondone, Piero della Francesca and Bernadino di Betto, better known as Pinturicchio. We will follow each artist as he travels around Italy, seeking and accepting opportunities that will enable him to develop and express a distinctive vision of the Christian Humanist message.

There followed a satisfying thirty year career as a teacher and lecturer in Independent Schools. During this time Richard continued to practise as a painter and photographer and satisfied an urge to travel by developing a program of European study tours.
