Greek Elementary 3 is a course designed for beginners who wish to learn to speak, read and understand basic Greek used in everyday situations. It offers an insight into Greek culture. The content is presented in an accessible and non-threatening way and opportunities are constantly provided for students to communicate in Modern Greek

Communication topics:

  • Asking and giving information about the time, days of the week and daily activities;
  • Giving information about how frequently something happens;
  • Asking for and giving directions;
  • Ordering food or drink at a cafe;
  • Asking and giving information about quantity.

Grammar topics:

  • Contracted and passive-form verbs;
  • More uses of the cases and prepositions showing relations in time;
  • Verbs in –ÏŽ like οδηγÏŽ (to drive);
  • Indefinite articles and pronouns;
  • Adverbs of place;
  • The plural of common sorts of nouns;

On completion of the course students will be able to:

  • Confidently share interesting personal information about themselves and ask similar information of other people in both formal and informal settings;
  • Communicate with confidence about the time of the day or week an event occurs, asking and giving directions and ordering food or drink;
  • Indicate spatial and temporal relations using prepositions and adverbs.

Greek Elementary 2 or the equivalent of about 35 hours of previous study.

IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PREVIOUS LEVEL AT CAE, YOU NEED TO CONTACT CAE FOR A SKILL ASSESSMENT PRIOR TO ENROLLING.
