Course Summary

French Elementary 3 is an 18-hour course designed for continuing beginners who wish to learn to speak, read, write and understand basic French used in everyday situations for enjoyment and cultural insight. The content of the course has been selected to suit prospective travelers, people wanting to interact socially with the French-speaking community both in Melbourne and overseas.

This course covers general topics such as:

  • use of possessive adjectives to talk about your family: mon, ma, mes
  • use of adjectives with nouns
  • verbs from -er group
  • introduction and use of the verb: faire
  • use of the articles du, de la, de l’, des to talk about your activities

  • use of the tonic pronouns : moi, toi, lui, elle, etc…
  • talk about your activities and things you like to do using the verb: faire + du, de la, de l’, des
  • learning parts of the body
  • explaining a health issue by saying: avoir mal + au, à la, à l’, aux
  • different ways of expressing your preferences: j’adore, je déteste etc… 


 

 

By the end of this course the student will be able to:

  • talk about your family

  • describe someone physically and their personality traits
  • talk about your preferences and things you like to do
  • talk about your profession, your passions and dreams
  • explain a health issue 


French Elementary 2 or equivalent of about 40 hours of previous study
