Learn flower arranging using both traditional and contemporary techniques. This course will introduce participants to flower identification, preparation and maintenance techniques. Students will use a mixture of flowers and foliage’s which are widely available and used by floral designers.

Learn flower arranging in a contemporary style using both traditional and contemporary techniques. This course will introduce participants to flower identification, preparation and maintenance techniques. Students will use a mixture of flowers and foliage’s which are widely available and used by floral designers. Generally these will include focal flowers, secondary flowers filler flowers, and foliage in seasonal varieties. Ideas for other arrangements will be workshopped and informal reviews of demonstrations and participants practical work will be conducted.

Learn how to design and create contemporary floral arrangements

Participants will be able to use these skills to make arrangements for the home. Course format is demonstration followed by practical exercises. Students will create up to three arrangements such as a table centre piece, a modern design and a bouquet/posy. The course will also provide practical experience and inspiration for students considering longer-term studies in floristry.

Fresh flowers, sundries and accessories will be provided.
Please bring scissors / secateurs, notebook & pen.

During the course students will have 3 arrangements to transport home and they may like to consider their transport arrangements accordingly.
You may wish to bring your own lunch and drinks as there are not many shops nearby.

The course will assist people wishing to gain skills to be able to arrange flowers more effectively for hobby and the home environment, as well as assisting them in ways to improve their practice autonomously. The course will assist people considering a career in floristry by giving them an insight to the industry. It is not designed as an entry into employment in the industry as more extensive training and investigation would need to be undertaken.
