Course Summary

Beginning Creative Writing: Advanced follows on from CAE’s popular Beginning Creative Writing, as it allows students to broaden and practise their skills. This course begins with a revision of fundamentals of great storytelling, covered in Beginning Creative Writing. Aspiring writers will then have further opportunities to practise and develop. In addition, the following aspects will be covered:

  • Personal narrative, using dual perspectives.
  • Poetry experimentation, using more complex triggers.
  • Short stor writing using different tenses.
  • Fairytales and reworking classic plots.
  • Science fiction, fantasy and romantic fiction.

This course is perfect for students who have previously studied creative writing in some capacity (such as Beginning Creative Writing at CAE or similar courses) but are not ready to specialise in one form (e.g. short story, poetry.) It is an ideal course for giving and receiving feedback on your writing, and meeting other like-minded writing enthuasists in a comfortable and nurturing environment.

What should I bring on the day? Please bring a pen and paper to each session.
