In this course Japanese For Busy People Book 2 (Revised 3rd Edition): Chapters 1, 2 and 3 are covered. The following topics/themes and grammar are covered in this course:

TOPICS/THEMES
• Asking for advice about a gift;
• Choosing an item;
• Searching for a lost item

GRAMMAR
• Referring to Indefinite Places, Things, or People: dokoka, nanika, dareka
• Stating and Asking Preference and Soliciting: ga ii desu ka/ ga ii desho ka
• Making Comparison (1): Expressing the Comparative Degree
• Making Comparison (2): Expressing the Superlative Degree
• “Doing Something to See How It Goes”: – te mimasu
• Getting Information or Advice. “I’d like to But …?”
• Making Comarison (3): – wa – yori – desu /- wa ichiban – desu
• Sating Decisions: – ni shimasu
• Connecting Related Sentences: – de/- kute
• Describing Ongoing Actions or States in Effect: – te imasu
• “Going Somewhere to Do Something”: – ni ikimasu

The development of intercultural skills is fostered through discussions of Japanese culture and customs.

By the end of this course students should be able to :
• Consulting Someone about What to Buy as a Souvenir;
• Asking Someone Their Preference for Food, Drink etc.;
• Stating or Asking for an Opinion about Two or More Items in Comparison with One Another;
• Stating the Size or Characteristics of an Item You Wish to Buy;
• Asking a Clerk to Gift-wrap an item;
•Indicating your Preferred Method of Payment;
• Talking about Your Family, Their Interests, and the Kinds of Gifts that Make Them Happy;
• Describing a Lost Item;
• Describing the Characteristics of a Person, Place, or Thing

• Read and Write 40 new kanji

Japanese Elementary 5 or equivalent to about 90 hours of previous study or those who have completed Japanese For Busy People Book 1 (Revised 3rd Edition).

IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PREVIOUS LEVEL AT CAE, YOU NEED TO CONTACT CAE FOR A SKILL ASSESSMENT PRIOR TO ENROLLING.
