Japanese: Elementary 5

In this course Japanese For Busy People Book 1 (Revised 3rd Edition): Chapters 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25 are covered. The following topics are covered in this course:

• Being warned or advised;
• At the office;
• Responding to an inquiry;
• Being introduced to someone;
• At a party

The development of intercultural skills is fostered through discussions of Japanese culture and customs.

By the end of this course students should be able to:

• Forbid someone from doing something;
• Forbid something and give a reason for doing so;
• Ask someone not to do something;
• Talk about what you are doing now;
• Talk about whether you have finished an activity;
• Talk about where you live, where you work, and who your acquaintances are;
• Ask where something you are looking for is sold;
• Ask someone at a party or store about something you are interested in;
• Talk about someone’s likes, skills, and interests;
• Introduce someone, giving details about where they live or work or what their interests are;
• Talk about what you want to do or where you want to live;
• Exchange information about a mutual interest.

Japanese Elementary 4 or equivalent to about 70 hours of previous study or those who have completed the first 20 chapters of Japanese For Busy People Book 1 (Revised 3rd Edition).

IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PREVIOUS LEVEL AT CAE, YOU NEED TO CONTACT CAE FOR A SKILL ASSESSMENT PRIOR TO ENROLLING.
