Course Summary
Japanese Elementary 1 is suited to those who want to use simple Japanese to communicate with family and friends, with people in the workplace or for travel purposes, and for a better understanding of Japanese people through cultural insights and intercultural skills.

By the end of this course students should be able to:
- Introduce themselves and others;
- Exchange information about work and nationality;
- Count and use numbers;
- Ask how much something is and purchase it;
- Order food and drinks in a restaurant;
- Understand basic Japanese etiquette for conducting oneself in the above situations;
- Recognise the difference between the three Japanese scripts and understand when they are used;
- Have an understanding and appreciation of the values and customs of Japanese people both in daily and business situations.
