Course Summary

Greek Elementary 2 is an 18-hour course designed for beginners who wish to learn to speak, read and understand basic Greek used in everyday situations. It offers an insight into Greek culture. The content is presented in an accessible, friendly and inclusive manner and opportunities are provided throughout class for students to communicate in Modern Greek.

Communication topics:

  • Exchanging personal information like language, nationality, family and age.
  • Asking what something means.
  • Buying items, money and prices.
  • Expressing likes and dislikes.
  • Numbers and counting.

Grammar topics:

  • Present tense verbs: in –άω like μιλάω (to speak).
  • Demonstrative and interrogative pronouns.
  • Adjectives.
  • Some conjunctions and prepositions.
  • An introduction to the Greek case system.
  • Uses of the nominative and accusative cases.

On completion of the course students will be able to:

  • Confidently share interesting personal information about themselves and ask similar information of other people in both formal and informal settings.
  • Communicate with confidence when expressing likes and dislikes and buying things.
  • Understand the Greek case system and decline simple nouns, adjectives and pronouns.

IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PREVIOUS LEVEL AT CAE, YOU NEED TO CONTACT CAE FOR A SKILL ASSESSMENT PRIOR TO ENROLLING.
