Course Summary

French Elementary 2 is a course for beginners. The content of the course has been selected to suit prospective travellers, people wanting to interact socially with the French-speaking community both in Melbourne and overseas, or those who would like to try learning a new language for enjoyment and cultural insight.

Course Content

This course covers general topics such as:

  • get to know people; where they come from
  • use of prepositions to talk about a city, en France, au Canada, etc
  • use of prepositions to locate a place: sur, sous, dans
  • use of other articles
  • introduction and use of the verb aller, venir & prendre
  • use of negation
  • use of demonstrative adjectives: ce, cet, cette, ces
  • use of questions
  • express means of transport

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, the student will be able to:

  • name countries and towns using the right article
  • name and locate places in a city
  • use of prepositions to indicate the location of things
  • talk about different types of accommodation
  • say where you live and come from
