Course Summary

This hands on drawing course for beginners provides an introduction to a range of drawing skills and materials required to produce representational drawings. Fun and challenging exercises will encourage students to develop their skills and personal style in a supportive learning environment.

Content:

The course will include practical in-class exercises, demonstrations, individual & group tutoring and group discussion.

Topics covered include: tonal value, line, proportion and collage and composition.

Throughout this introductory drawing course students will:

  • Explore and develop some key concepts and skills involved in understanding and making drawings through a series of observational drawing exercises                 
  • Develop the ability to structure representational drawings that incorporate a selection of drawing implements and mediums
  • Begin to develop and explore their own personal style and approach to drawing

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Please bring to your first class the following materials:

1 X A4 sized sketch book

Pencils: 1 X 5B, 1 X 4H, 1 X 9B

Kneadable eraser

2 X Compressed charcoal

2 x bulldog clip 

 

Further materials requirements will be discussed in the first session. It is expected that materials are likely to cost approx $30 depending on how much you may already own.
