Course Summary

This high-paced elementary course has been designed to help students master modern standard Arabic through a systematic approach as presented in the book series Al-Kitaab fii Ta’allum al-‘Arabiyya. It aims to provide learners with basic skills in literary, conversational, as well as everyday language. 

Studying Arabic Elementary 2 will provide an insight into a rich culture. Whether you wish to establish business connections with Arabic-speaking countries, work in health or community centres which offer services to Arabic speakers or plan to travel in countries where Arabic is spoken, Arabic Elementary 2 will set you on the path to acquiring a basic knowledge of Modern Standard Arabic as well as introducing you to the Egyptian and/or Levantine dialects.

This course will take the students through a range of general topics such as:

 Exchange of information and opinions

  • Talking about health and well-being
  • Engaging in general chit chat
  • Talking about family life
  • Work / study
  • Describing things, people, and places
  • Cultural expressions

 Grammar is gradually introduced as the level increases.

By the end of this course the student will be able to:

 

  • understand basic grammar and build meaningful sentences
  • engage in basic conversations and exchange opinions
  • be able to read a variety of simple texts in Arabic (advertisements, descriptions, biographies)
  • be able to produce simple texts in Arabic
  • acquire more knowledge about cultural and social customs in the Arab world
  • acquire more knowledge of selected Arab countries and cities

Arabic: Elementary 1 or about 18 hours of previous study.

IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PREVIOUS LEVEL AT CAE, YOU NEED TO CONTACT CAE FOR A SKILL ASSESSMENT PRIOR TO ENROLLING.

N.B. CAE withdrawal policy does not allow for refund or transfer once the course has started in the event that the level of the class is not suitable.
