Acting: Beginners

Course Summary

Welcome to the exciting world of acting! With a focus on acquiring the skills for stage acting, you will gain confidence in approaching text and using drama techniques in a supportive and fun environment.

This inspiring acting course for beginners will cover:

• Theatre games that develop spontaneity, quick thinking and stage blocking processes.
• How to explore and develop the physical components of acting.
• Using the voice as a communication tool as well as a vital element for the actor.
• Improvisation skills for character, structure and stagecraft.
• Skills and awareness of text and script work. 
• Audition night, where students present a two-minute audition for a presentation in class.

Please dress for comfort.

Bring a notebook and a pen to each session. A water bottle is also recommended.

Your teacher, Peter Stephenson-Jones, is a long-time stalwart of Melbourne theatre, with many productions to his credit over the years, across a range of drama and comedy.

NOTE: There will be no class on Tues 19 Aug (campus closed that day).
