Course Summary

This course is designed for people who plan to travel or work in Russia. The main aim of the course is to enable the students to cope with day-to-day situations and to communicate effectively in Russian, building on the ability they have acquired in Russian Elementary 1. It is ideal for those who wish to gain further cultural insights.

The following topics will be covered in this course:

  • Further understanding and use of times and dates in Russian.
  • Building the everyday use of numbers including ordinal numbers.
  • Everyday situations and practical application of the language (leisure activities, expressing likes and dislikes, talking about meals and daily routines, home, family etc.)
  • Continued vocabulary building.
  • Handwritten Russian script.
  • Ongoing practice through listening, reading, writing and engaging in dialogues in a group environment.
  • Further building of understanding of the grammar structure in a collaborative and friendly environment.
  • Cultural references to assist in understanding the application of Russian in everyday life.

By the end of this course students should be able to:

  • Express time and dates in Russian;
  • Effectively use numerals;
  • To read and write Russian script;
  • To cope with everyday situations (hotel, airport, meals etc);
  • Engage in simple conversations such as daily routines, sport, and family;
  • Further develop understanding of grammar structures behind the content learnt;
  • Feel more comfortable travelling and interacting with people in Russian speaking countries.

Russian Elementary 1 or equivalent of about 18 hours of previous study.

IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PREVIOUS LEVEL AT CAE, YOU NEED TO CONTACT CAE FOR A SKILL ASSESSMENT PRIOR TO ENROLLING.

N.B. CAE withdrawal policy does not allow for refund or transfer once the course has started in the event that the level of the class is not suitable.
