Course Summary

You might have noticed, if you have ever attempted to learn a foreign language, that this is a process that is quite different from the way children learn their mother tongues. Nonetheless, both processes share several similarities. Understanding their similarities and differences allows language learners to think about their language learning experience, determine the best methods to approach this challenge, understand its struggles, have realistic expectations, and gain confidence.

You will learn the basics of first and second language acquisition. This course is aimed at language users who are interested in understanding their own learning experiences, as well as language teachers who can use it to inform their pedagogical practices.

Target group/level: Current and former language students (any language)

Prerequisites: None
