This course covers the following topics:

  • Greetings and Introductions;
  • The German alphabet;
  • Numbers 1-1000;
  • Nationality, profession, civil state;
  • Interests, hobbies;
  • Household furniture and appliances and faults;
  • Food and drinks;
  • Shopping.

By the end of this course students should be able to:

  • introduce themselves and others;
  • spell their names;
  • engage in simple conversations and exchange personal information about nationality and profession;
  • count up to 1,000 and add up sums of money;
  • use simple German to talk about interests and hobbies;
  • order drinks and foods in a cafe or restaurant;
  • shop for furniture and appliances; indicate faults;
  • have an understanding and appreciation of the values and customs of German-speaking communities;
  • read and write a short simple dialogue.
