Skills Recognition
Skills Recognition allows for students to have previous formal and informal study, work and life experience recognised for the course in which they are enrolling.
CAE Staff can assess your existing skills through a recognition process. This process determines whether or not you are already competent in some of the subject
areas or competences covered in the course. CAE's Skills Recognition information sheet outlines the requirements in more detail.

Non permanent residents can apply for the above courses. Different fees apply.
How do I apply?
Selection for English as a Second Language will take place at an information and interview session.

Students will undertake an English language skills assessment so that they can be placed in the most suitable class.
You must bring your passport or other proof of permanent residency with you when you enrol.
Students must bring photo ID or three other forms of identiy to enrolment.
To obtain a concession fee, you must bring a valid concession card.

2010 Courses
GENERAL ENGLISH CLASSES
These general English classes start from pre-intermediate through to an advanced level.
Certificate I, II, III and IV in ESL Access (21936VIC, 21932VIC, 21933VIC & 21934VIC)
Courses are available from beginner or low intermediate through to advanced level. Students can study full time, part time or evening; from one morning per week.
Full time courses include a computer component and electives about life in Australia. General English classes are also available in the evening.
Certificate III in ESL for Further Study (21939VIC).
This is an intermediate/upper intermediate full-time English course of 5 days per week for one semester which will help prepare students
for year 11 VCE or TAFE and improve their general English skills. Supervised study sessions are also available.
Certificate III in ESL (Further Study) is also available in the evening.
INTENSIVE ENGLISH FOR FURTHER STUDY
Certificate IV in ESL for Further Study (21940VIC).
This is an advanced full-time English course of 5 days per week for one semester which will help prepare students for year 12 VCE, TAFE,
university and improve their general English skills. Supervised study sessions are also available.
Certificate IV in ESL (Further Study) is also available in the evening.
ENGLISH SKILLS FOR WORK
Certificate III in ESL Employment (21935VIC)
Certificate IV in ESL Professional (21937VIC)
Part time day and evening classes assist those who want to improve their English skills for the workplace. These classes are suitable for those working, or
looking for a job. Casual and formal conversations in the workplace, presentations and writing emails, formal letters and reports will be covered in these classes.
PROFESSIONAL AND VOCATIONAL ESL COURSES
English for Health Professionals (OET Preparation)
Certificate IV in ESL Professional (21937VIC)
This intensive exam preparation course can help develop English proficiency in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Gain an understanding of the requirements of the OET and exam techniques, develop your grammar and formal writing skills,
and improve speaking and pronunciation. Taught by highly experienced English language teachers with a sound knowledge of
the OET examination, this course provides a wide range of authentic learning materials, regular exam practice and a stimulating
classroom environment. Please note that the reading component of the course is based on the new OET test format.
