Course Summary

Antonio Lucio Vivaldi is a prominent Baroque composer, whose abundant secular and religious works immediately precede (and sometimes equal) the masterpieces of Handel and Bach.  In this course, music of these three composers will be compared and contrasted.

Presenter Peter Larsen

Tutor, Peter Larsen, has a rich and fascinating story to tell, all associated with his love of music, both in a teaching, playing and conducting capacity. Peter is an accomplished violinist and orchestral and choral conductor. He has also presented on classical radio station, 3MBS. Peter conducted the Geelong Symphony Orchestra, Geelong Madrigal Choir, and briefly, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Peter travelled widely at times visiting schools in Britain, Eugene Oregon, USA, Budapest, Kecskemet and Montreux to hear and enjoy their unique musical performances. 

Peter has extensive teaching experience and his qualifications include a B.Mus., B.Ed. and M. Ed. He was head of the Music Department at Geelong Teacher’s College and at the Phillips Institute of Technology for a number of years.

Peter has presented his popular Music Appreciation courses at CAE for over 25 years. He has a truly loyal following among his students but always keen to see new faces at his sessions.
