Course Summary

Swedish Elementary 2 is a continuation course focusing on the attainment of basic conversation and grammatical skills. It provides the next level of understanding of daily life in Swedish and is ideal for people who have studied Swedish previously and who are keen on taking the next step in understanding and learning more about the Swedish language as well as culture and customs.

This 18-hour course focuses on speaking and listening so that students will be able to communicate effectively on everyday topics, such as:

  • Hobbies and activities you do in your spare time;
  • Talking about your family;
  • Comparing your everyday life in the past and present;
  • Discussing likes and dislikes;
  •  Talking about the weather;
  • Tourism and dates: sharing your experiences.

Students will learn the more about basic grammar structures, such as adjectives (making comparisons) and basic past tense structures. The course continues to focus on getting students speaking as much Swedish as possible and extending their vocabulary through reading and listening exercises.

By the end of the course, students should have:

  • A better understanding of basic grammar and sentence structure
  • A bigger vocabulary for dealing with everyday situation
  • The ability to have simple discussions about different things
  • Some knowledge of Swedish culture and important historical figures
  • A good understanding of Swedish social life

Swedish: Elementary 1, or equivalent level of Swedish (approx. 18 hours of study)

IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PREVIOUS LEVEL AT CAE, YOU NEED TO CONTACT CAE FOR A FREE SKILL ASSESSMENT PRIOR TO ENROLLING.
