Course Summary

The course is designed to facilitate conversations and to consolidate students previous learning in Spanish. The course is conversation-based, thus opportunities are constantly created for students to interact with each other in Spanish. It will be conducted in a friendly and encouraging manner.

The following topics will be covered:

  • Looking for an apartment or a house
  • Talking about the future and making predictions
  • Using conditional phrases in present and future tenses
  • Direct and indirect object pronouns
  • Talking about recurrent actions and circumstances in the past
  • Making comparisons
  • Locating places in a city
  • Placing an advertisement in the newspaper or internet to sell goods
  • Buying food at the market
  • Expressing indefinite quantities
  • Understanding and giving instructions

By the end of this course you should be able to:

  • engage in conversations and exchange information about the present, past actions, recurrent actions and circumstances in the past, future actions and predictions;
  • use conditional phrases;
  • understand written texts in the past tense;
  • make comparisons;
  • place an advertisement to sell goods or exchange services;
  • buy food at the market;
  • understand and follow instructions, i.e. in a recipe;
  • write about topics such as family, work, hobbies, weather, plans, past actions, cultural differences, health, travel, future actions and predictions, house descriptions, recurrent actions and circumstances in the past and food and recipes.

Spanish: Elementary 4, or the equivalent to approximately 70 hours of previous study.

IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PREVIOUS LEVEL AT CAE, YOU NEED TO CONTACT CAE FOR A SKILL ASSESSMENT PRIOR TO ENROLLING.
