Course Summary

Elementary 3 is an 18-hour course for beginners. The content of the course has been designed to facilitate conversations and to consolidate students’ previous learning in Spanish. Ideal for prospective travellers and people wanting to interact socially with the Spanish-speaking community both in Melbourne and overseas or those who would like to try their hand at learning a new language for enjoyment and cultural insight.

The content is presented in an accessible and non-threatening way and opportunities are constantly provided for students to communicate in Spanish.

Topics will include:

  • Talking about health, diseases and going to the doctor
  • Imperfect tense
  • Talking about plans and intentions
  • Formulating questions: What? Which? How much? How many? When? Where? Who?
  • Using present, simple past and imperfect tenses to narrate something
  • Dates and numbers
  • Simple past tense of irregular verbs
  • Talking about the recent past
  • Talking about cultural differences
  • Expressions of necessity and prohibition

By the end of this course the student will be able to:

  • Talk about habits, difficult situations
  • Make some recommendations
  • Describe feelings
  • Talk about plans and formulate questions about the reasons behind to achieve them
  • Talk about activities to learn a language
  • Talk about professions, movies and biographies
  • Talk about when things are happening and exchange information about present and past actions
  • Describe preferences
  • Describe a house and make some comparisons
  • Describe objects and locate them

Elementary 3 or the equivalent to approximately 50 hours of previous study.

IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PREVIOUS LEVEL AT CAE, YOU NEED TO CONTACT CAE FOR A SKILL ASSESSMENT PRIOR TO ENROLLING.
