Pattern Drafting is a vital skill for the home sewer and with this course, we offer a alternative to the standard pattern draft techniques. Tutor Karine Larche is an expert on the technique and offers a workshop combining theory, demonstration and, importantly, practical work that will allow you to continue with the practice, post-course.
This is a hands-on introduction to the French Haute Couture technique of pattern-making known as moulage, which consists of draping directly onto the mannequin; an alternative to traditional flat pattern making . Learn a fast, creative and accurate way of turning a 2D design onto a 3D toile from scratch. In doing so, acquire the basic skills to replicate a design on a mannequin, be able to experiment and create your designs and make your own pattern based on a set of measurements by draping directly onto the mannequin.

Tutor Karine has studied and worked in both Australia and France, with a CV that highlights roles with key organisations including Nuit Blanche Paris, Comedie Francaise Paris and Mariana Hardwick, Melbourne Theatre Company, Australian Ballet and Victorian Opera.
Students will need to bring the following items to class:
- Dressmakers pins such as:
- French curve
- Measuring tape
- Grey lead pencil
- Coloured pencils such as (or any coloured pencil that marks calico)
- A pair of cutting scissors
- Notebook/ pen for taking notes in class
