Course Summary

Approaching drafting methods and translating the instructions onto paper and into shape.  Construct a block for a pair of classic trousers with or without pleats and pockets.

Construct a block for a classic blazer including darts, pockets, collar and sleeves.

Discuss and prepare patterns for making up processes like canvassing, fusing, lining and finishing.

Students will familiarise with pattern drafting methods and books available, and gain experience in translating these methods into a pattern. They will obtain a pattern for a blazer and pants for a set of measurements.

  • Basic sewing skills
  • Its recommended that you have previous experience using commercial patterns
  • A set of measurements
  • Metric rulers: french curve, grading ruler, multi-scale ruler
  • Metric tape measure
  • Pencils, sharpener, eraser
  • Small calculator (or you could use the calculator on your phone)

Any notification of class cancellation will be advised within 48 hours, therefore you may prefer to wait and purchase your materials until the couple of days before the scheduled start day. All efforts are made to ensure that courses proceed so that cancellation and disappointment is avoided.
