Course Summary

This hands-on beginner’s course aims to give the learner a sound grounding in the use of Microsoft Word 2016 to create everyday documents required either at work or at home. The course shows the beginner the screen elements and how to navigate Microsoft Word 2016. We show to create new documents and edit existing documents. We discuss text manipulation and enhancement, creating and using tabs and tables, embellishing documents with graphics pictures, creating multiple documents through merging and printing documents.

At the completion of this course you should be able to:

  • create, edit and work with documents.
  • understand document views to better manage and control layouts and contents.
  • work with text – different selection methods, then cut/copy/paste with options within and between documents.
  • understand font, paragraph and page layout formatting.
  • work with tables and tabs.
  • insert and work with pictures and graphics in a Word document.
  • use the Mail Merge Wizard to perform mail merges.
  • output options for a document (printing, pdf….).
  • obtain help for Word whenever you need it.

This course assumes little or no knowledge of Microsoft Word 2016. However, it would be beneficial to have a general understanding of personal computers and the operating system environment, especially in regard to working with files and folders.

Please bring along a USB stick in order to save your work.
