Course Summary

Learn how to make a perfectly fitting beautiful bra (functional or decorative), camisole, half or full length slip, panties (G-String to French knickers), nightie or pyjamas! Course covers lace insertion/application, bra measurement and construction, handling of delicate fabrics, lace application, construction techniques, elastic application and finishing techniques. Basic sewing skills required.

Learn how to make beautiful bras in functional and decorative styles, camisoles, slips (half or full length), panties (G-string to French knickers), nighties and pyjamas. This course covers lace insertion/application, bra measurement and construction, use of fabrics, lace application, construction techniques, elastic application and finishing techniques.

Students will be able to correctly measure up and make their own well-fitting lingerie and /or bra under the expert guidance of the tutor. Students will leave with practical experience in the sewing techniques required to apply lace, elastic and seam finishes to make a quality garment. Supplier information is provided for further home projects.

Basic sewing experience is required with hand sewing knowledge an advantage.

MATERIALS REQUIREMENTS:

Bobbin & sewing machine needles for Bernina machine models 1005/1006.
Bra making requires: a ball point/stretch needle size 80, Sharp scissors & sewing supplies (tape measure, pins, marking chalk/pen etc.), Pencil and paper.

Students wishing to make lingerie, bring a pattern of your choice.
Students making a bra, purchase one pattern from the following:
Kwik-Sew: 2101, 2200, 2374, 2375, 2489, 3300 and 3594
(also all patterns are subject to importation & can be discontinued at anytime by the company)
Fabric & laces of your choice (as suggested on the pattern) and matching polyester thread.
Also bring notions (eg elastic, hooks) as indicated on pattern.

Minimum cost approx.$25 (if making a bra).
Some fabrics may be able to be sourced from remnants tables.
