Course Summary

CAE’s Japanese for Travellers program is delivered as a 12-hour course. It is designed to facilitate travellers’ interaction with native speakers and to support their needs while travelling.

The course is very hands-on and conversation-based. Opportunities are constantly created for travellers to practice potential interactions with locals when they reach their destination. CAE Travellers Courses are conducted in a friendly and encouraging manner and will provide you with the language skills to further appreciate and enjoy your destination.

Language Modules at CAE


Elementary:  Levels 1 to 6

Understands and communicates simple personal and work-related messages.

Intermediate: 1 – 4

Understands and communicates any important information both in writing and orally.

Advanced: 1 – 4

–  Can understand, communicate and put into practice standard information both in everyday life and work related situations.

–  Puts complex information into practice, both in everyday life and in work situations, presentations and meetings.

Proficient: 1 – 4

Expert: 1 – 6

  • Meeting people.
  • Customs & culture/Dos & Don’ts.
  • The transport systems.
  • Geography.
  • Directions.
  • Shopping.
  • Entertainment.
  • Food and drink.

By the end of the course, you should be able to do the following in Japanese:

  • Introduce yourself and others and use basic expressions for meeting and greeting.
  • Ask for directions.
  • Use public transport.
  • Ask for prices and buy various items.
  • Order and buy food.
  • Engage in simple conversations and exchange personal information about your family, work and travels.
  • Understand basic Japanese culture, customs and Japanese people, dos and don’ts in Japan.

Lonely Planet (Japanese) Phrase book will be included as a part of the cost of this course.

You want to learn the language but with a less-formal teaching structure. You are travelling to Japan, or would like to interact better with Japanese-speakers in your personal or business life.
