Japanese Elementary 4 is suited to people who would like to broaden their understanding and communication skills in Japanese in order to interact socially with the Japanese-speaking community both in Melbourne and overseas.

In this course Japanese For Busy People Book 1 (Revised 3rd Edition): Chapters 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 are covered. The Following topics are included:

  • Participating in a festival;
  • Talking about plans;
  • Making a request;
  • Going to an art museum;
  • AT an art museum;
  • Being warned or advised.

The development of intercultural skills is fostered through discussions of Japanese culture and customs

By the end of this course students should be able to :

  • Talk about what you own;
  • Offer to help someone/accept or reject someone’s offer;
  • Give a reason for offering someone something, inviting someone to do something, or refusing someone’s invitation;
  • Talk about weekend plans and travel plans: state what you will do in what order;
  • Talk about schedules in detail;
  • Ask to have something delivered by a specific means from a store or office;
  • Ask someone to do something for you;
  • Give directions to a taxi driver;
  • Talk about getting on and off means of transportation, and about departure and arrival times;
  • Talk about lengths of stays;
  • Ask about travel times;
  • Ask permission to do something at someone’s house or at a store;
  • Grant or refuse permission, and give a reason for doing so;
  • Forbid someone from doing something;
  • Forbid something and give a reason for doing so;
  • Ask someone not to do something

Japanese Elementary 3 or equivalent to about 50 hours of previous study.

IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PREVIOUS LEVEL AT CAE, YOU NEED TO CONTACT CAE FOR A SKILL ASSESSMENT PRIOR TO ENROLLING.
