Course Summary

This course is ideal for people who want to broaden their knowledge and understanding of the Italian language and culture and who want to communicate with friends, family members and people met when working or travelling in countries where Italian is spoken.

Students will learn to understand and converse in Italian on general topics such as:

  • Daily routine and work life
  • Holidays and traditions
  • Identifying family relationships
  • Describing your family

By the end of this course you should be able to use Italian to:

  • use expressions to describe your typical day, talk about your work life or describe your routine;
  • engage in simple conversations to express the traditions or holidays you celebrate;
  • describe your family;
  • develop an understanding and appreciation of the values and customs of Italian-speaking communities;
  • read emails, greeting cards and letters;
  • write a letter to a friend.

Italian: Elementary 3 or equivalent of about 50 hours of previous study. Continuation for 1B students

Suitable for post beginners with knowledge of Italian grammar (e.g. use verbs in the past tense)

IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PREVIOUS LEVEL AT CAE, YOU NEED TO CONTACT CAE FOR A SKILL ASSESSMENT PRIOR TO ENROLLING.

N.B. CAE withdrawal policy does not allow for refund or transfer once the course has started in the event that the level of the class is not suitable.
