Course Summary

CAE has partnered with Fab9 to create an introductory woodworking course delivered at an exciting new makerspace in Footscray.

Become familiar with basic woodworking tools and learn elemental techniques to get you started with woodwork. Under the guidance of a professional, students will build their own box picture frame up to ‘A3’ in size.

Session 1

An introduction to woodworking tools and their safe use. Instructor led demonstrations and hands on practice.

Session 2

Frame a small ‘work on paper’ of your choice, such as a drawing, photograph, certificate, etc. Students will be assisted in making their own frames using both hand and power tools. The key framing methods learned will enable students to develop their own framing designs and solutions for future projects.

Classes will be held at the Fab9 makerspace, Ground Floor, 90 Maribyrnong Street, Footscray.  Enter via Parker Street.

Sam Muratore is an expert in teaching woodworking, with 36 years of experience as the workshop manager at Victorian College of the Arts.

Classes will be held at the Fab9 makerspace, Ground Floor, 90 Maribyrnong Street, Footscray.  Enter via Parker Street.

Please bring a notebook and pen to each session.

Please wear:

– Fully enclosed footwear

– Fitted clothing with no loose ties.

– No loose jewellery 

– Long hair tied back
