Develop your drawing skills in this wonderful introduction to drawing with charcoal.  Learn how to work with charcoal using a range of techniques and materials.

Learn how to accurately draw with charcoal using a variety of techniques.  The course will cover:

– Materials, including charcoal and paper varieties

– Charcoal drawing techniques

– Definition, shading and highlighting

– Basic composition and proportion

Artists

Carolyn Large is a practising artist located in the beautiful Macedon Ranges. As a member of the Sunbury Art Society, Macedon Ranges Art Trail and the Woodend Art Group she has participated in a number of exhibitions including Trentham, Woodend, Sunbury and the Melbourne City Council.

Carolyn specialises in pet portrait commission work, portraits and landscapes, working primarily in pastel, charcoal and acrylic paint mediums.

Carolyn also works as a textile artist, specialising in needle felting. She has achieved commercial success in both 3-D and 2-D felting and continues to expand her skills in “painting” with wool to produce works of beauty that reflect the natural environment.

 

Farimah Eshraghi graduated in Fine Arts from the Accademia di Belle Arti of Bologna, Italy. She has staged numerous exhibitions in Italy, Ecuador and Australia.

Farimah has participated in national and international art competitions, winning numerous prizes and recognitions. She holds a Graduate Diploma of Teaching from the University of Melbourne and teaches art at Box Hill Institute, CAE, Swinburne and at many community centres.

Farimah finds inspiration in nature, people, her spiritual beliefs and the art of Renaissance artists such as Caravaggio, Tiziano, Raffaello, the Surrealist Artists, the Futurists, Turner and Vasarelli... and many more!

Her areas of expertise include Painting (Oils, Watercolour, Pastel, Acrylics), Drawing, Portraiture, Life Drawing, Printmaking and Sculpture.

Please ensure you have the following materials for each class:

Surface: 

Butchers paper or cartridge Paper or watercolour paper in size A3, A2, or A4, in individual sheets or sketch book.

Board, clipses and/or masking tape, if using individual sheets.

Meduim: 

Box of Willow Charcoal (preferably medium and/or soft) or individual sticks (medium size, or mixed: i.e. thin, medium, thicker.)

(Optional) Charcoal pencils and/ or Compress Charcoal or Conte’ Crayons.

Other: 

Kneadable eraser.

Rag or tissue, for wiping or erasing.

(Optional) Blending tool, or tissue or soft brush (medium size), for blending.

 

Notification of a class cancellation will be advised 48 hours prior to the course commencement date. We advise to purchase your materials once you have received email confirmation that your class is proceeding as scheduled. All efforts are made to ensure that our classes proceed to avoid disappointment.
