French: Elementary 6 is a course ideal for people who want to broaden their knowledge and understanding of the French language and culture and who want to communicate with friends, family members, colleagues and people in the local community or in countries where French is spoken.

Students will learn to understand and converse in French on general topics such as:
– Weather, weather forecasts;
– Life in the future;
– Grammar to be introduced: future tense and some uses of the subjunctive mood;
– Ongoing pronunciation practice.

By the end of this course students should be able to:
– Express ideas and feelings about the future ;
– Understand and give weather details;
– Accomplish a range of tasks (e.g. make appointments, follow directions/ instructions, read brochures, use the telephone);
– Make themselves understood in a variety of situations
( e.g. shopping, finding lodgings, using public transport, ordering meal);
– Understand and reply to emails;
– Write postcards, journal entries and informal letters.
– Engage in simple conversations and exchange information about work, studies, interests, leisure activities, daily routines and travels.

French: Elementary 5 or equivalent of about 90 hours of previous study

IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PREVIOUS LEVEL AT CAE, YOU NEED TO CONTACT CAE FOR A SKILL ASSESSMENT PRIOR TO ENROLLING.

N.B. CAE withdrawal policy does not allow for refund or transfer once the course has started in the event that the level of the class is not suitable.
