Course Summary

Feldenkrais is a clever exercise system using gentle movement and mindfulness. You learn to release tightness and unconscious restriction and create natural, graceful and effective actions.

This class will explain the principles of the Feldenkrais Method®, then apply them to pleasant, safe exercises to free up the neck, head and shoulders. You will find enjoyable and interesting ways to neutralize the tensions that build up in the neck and techniques for ongoing self-maintenance.

The class includes:

  • Deeply relaxing Feldenkrais lessons
  • Re-program the brain’s control of neck posture
  • Learn to coordinate movements of the head and neck harmoniously with the whole body
  • Learn the 7 directions neck exercise for ongoing self-maintenance

Format: Movement activities, mostly done sitting in a chair with some lying on the floor. About 75% practical activity, 25% information and discussion.

Ralph Hadden is an experienced Feldenkrais trainer with many years teaching experience. Ralph presents a range of Feldenkrais courses at CAE throughout the year.  


You will need: A chair with a firm, flat base for sitting. A mat, towel or blanket to lie on.

Clothing: Comfortable, easy to move around in

Who for: Suitable for adults of all ages, all levels of fitness/unfitness; beginners and continuing students of Feldenkrais.

Who not for: You will be practising gentle, safe movements of the neck and surrounding areas. If you are unable to have any comfortable movement at all in the neck then maybe this is not for you.  (Better to start with some individual Feldenkrais lessons.)
