Course Summary

Discover the beautiful and sustainable art of eco printing. 

Artist Anne Thoday imparts the technique of eco printing using leaves and other plant matter to print on a silk scarf and fine art paper.  Learn about the safe use of household materials as mordants (mordants can be used to fix colours and /or change colours that the leaves would otherwise print).

Students will learn:

  • What plants can be used for eco printing.
  • How to prepare fabric for eco printing.
  • How to use simple, safe mordants from household solutions.
  • Placements of plant materials and interactions.

No previous experience is necessary.

Anne’s practice is seated largely within the realm of contemporary environmental art. She is a multi-disciplinary artist producing works that arouse an appreciation and reverence for the natural world.
