A digital photography course perfect for beginners
Learn about the key elements so critical in taking great photos, in a comfortable and relaxed environment. Melbourne photographer George Poulakis will demonstrate and more importantly, talk in layman’s terms about the key fundamentals of good photography.
Over the duration of the course, you will cover the following, and more:
- Getting to know your camera
- Focusing techniques
- Lens selection
- Focal length and lens compression
- The exposure triangle: shutter speed, aperture, and ISO
- White balance
- Exposure compensation
- Creative applications of movement and depth-of-field
- Composition and image design principles
- Working with natural light and flash
- Image review
By the end of the course you will have a thorough understanding of the basics of photography and how to use that knowledge to take better photographs.
Who is this course for? Do I need prior knowledge of photography?
No prior knowledge of photography is neccessary, simply an interest in photography and a desire to take better photographs. The course is suitable for all forms of camera and also perfect for those who may have been using film based cameras and are looking to brush up on their skills.
What should I bring on the day?
Please bring a pen and paper along to the class if you would like to take notes and your camera.
Please ensure your camera battery is fully charged and there’s plenty of room on the memory card (empty if possible).
It may also be useful to bring along your camera’s instruction manual and charging cables – just in case!
