Course Summary

Create your own pieces of wearable ceramic jewellery with Melbourne artist, Shuh Lee.  In this hands on course you will learn everthing from designing and modelling your jewellery pieces to painting, glazing and assembling earrings, rings, bracelets, beads or brooches.   


About Ceramic Artist Shuh Lee

Shuh Lee is a Melbourne based maker behind the label ‘shuh.’. Shuh comes from a fashion background and has developed a love for hand made jewellery.

After graduating from Fashion Design in RMIT University, Shuh created her own jewellery line and started selling her hand made products online, in craft markets, and in retail shops. From there, the label grew organically and she has participated in exhibitions and creative collaborations. Shuh’s work is about playing with a mixture of art and craft, and re-purposing material objects into something usable, wearable and fun. Her practice currently involves jewellery, clothing, illustration, prints, bedding and scarves.

Course Outline

Week 1 – Sculpting/cutting/rolling/modelling/creating the basic forms for ceramic jewellery pieces like earrings, beads, pendants, rings, bracelets and brooches.

Week 2 – Painting the dried ceramic pieces with personalised designs and continuing to create the basic forms of ceramic jewellery. These pieces will then be bisque fired.

Week 3 – Glazing the bisque pieces for firing.

Week 4 – Assembling the final fired pieces together. Students will need to bring their own jewellery findings (hardware) to attach their ceramic pieces together.

Please bring an apron or smock and wear enclosed shoes.

Students will be required to purchase findings (hardwear) for their own peices.  Details on where to source these will be provided after the first lesson.
