We explore the art and literature that emerged during the first century of European settlement – from early attempts to refashion an alien land, through periods of adjustment and acceptance, to the rise of a nationalistic spirit and celebration of Australia’s uniqueness. Artist’s will include John Glover, Eugene Von Guerard, Tom Roberts, Arthur Streeton, Banjo Patterson, John Glover, Henry Kendall and others, while the literary styles will include Neo Classical, Pastoral, Socialist and more.

 

Gain a better understanding of the artists and the times that they both influenced, and were influenced by.

There is no prerequisite for enrolling in this course.
