This course is a combination of theory and practice that provides students with an excellent grounding in drama activities.
Be introduced to all aspects of drama including physical body use and warm-up, voice, basic script reading and improvisation. It’s perfect for those keen to develop self-esteem and confidence for personal or work related purposes, or wanting to develop further drama skills.
Students will have the opportunity of working through various activities to develop skills, techniques and confidence, as well as receiving the encouragement to continue with these practices post-course.
Claire is a Melbourne based actor with over 10 years experience across theatre, film, voice, children's entertainment, writing and production. She trained at QUT with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting) in 2008. In 2011, Claire received grants from the Ian Potter Foundation: Cultural Trust and Arts Queensland to study Shakespeare at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA, London).
Claire has worked with Queensland Theatre Company, Laboite Theatre Company, Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble, Queensland Ballet, High Tide Theatre Company & Only Connect (London), Playwriting Australia, Dead Puppet Society, The Good Room, Underground Cinema (Melbourne), Boutique Theatre and has performed at both the Brisbane and Adelaide Fringe Festivals. Claire wrote and produced the sell out seasons of "Battlefield Blues" for the 2015 Melbourne Fringe Festival and 'Mona Brow Williams presents...' a one woman show, for the Anywhere Theatre Festival at Roma Street Parkland, Brisbane, 2013. Claire's feature film work includes JUCY, All my friends are leaving Brisbane and Reef n Beef. In 2008, she won the Warner Roadshow Studio's Queensland New Filmmaker Award for Best Female Actress for short film, 'Years'. Claire is currently teaching Acting for beginners at the Centre for Adult Education (CAE), Melbourne. Claire is a proud member of equity.
