This course introduces students to the basics of sculpture and various aspects of creating three-dimensional work, addressing scale, proportion, texture, technique and materials, including modelling, mould making and casting. Various moulding and sculpting techniques will be explored, including carving, hand building, modelling, pressing, slip casting, and the use of materials, tools and equipment will be discussed. Students will create a small sculpture with clay, after drawing sketches from their own ideas, followed by demonstration of the process of moulding and casting with plaster, which can be used for the creation of a sculpture.
