VCAL is a hands-on alternative to studying Year 11 and 12 in a secondary school and it is designed to create opportunities for employment or further studies at TAFE.
The Pre-VCAL course is an intensive, full time preparation program for students who wish to enrol in the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) at Box Hill Institute, but do not yet meet the required level of English.
This course provides excellent skills in verbal and written English comprehension and expression for participants who are speakers of languages other than English. It also provides help in study skills and units that allow students to pursue further studies.
The Pre-VCAL course is the combination of units from Certificate II in EAL (ACCESS) and pre-accredited courses. It includes:
- English study (EAL)
- Personal Development Skills Project
- Work and Study Related Skills
Once students successfully complete the Pre-VCAL course, they are eligible to study the VCAL course at Box Hill Institute. VCAL, like VCE, is an accredited senior secondary school certificate that is recognised internationally as a successful completion of secondary education.
