Course Summary

This course combines both theory and practical work focusing on select buildings within Melbourne’s CBD. Activities will focus on traditional architectural sketching techniques providing students with valuable skills and experience capturing forms and shapes in the surrounding space. Skills gained, and observational techniques used on the day, will be invaluable for all ongoing drawing and sketching activities.

Activities on the day will focus on an introduction to the sketching method, practising sketching indoors and sketching outdoors.

Gain a better understanding of sketching based on architectural drawing techniques – discipline embraced will assist students with their ongoing drawing activities.

Tutor Alexander Jan holds a Bachelor Degree in Architecture and a Graduate Diploma in Animation and interactive Multimedia. He has a strong background in Architectural Heritage work and Commercial Art.

There is no prerequisite for enrolling in this course.

Please bring a notebook and pen to the session for taking notes and a sketchbook and preferred pencils for drawing activity.
