Gain confidence in the technical application of oil or acrylic paints. Develop a personal art response through innovative exploration and experimentation with ideas, concepts and the painting medium. Learn new skills for achieving desired effects through realistic or abstract representation while improving your personal techniques.

Subjects covered include:
– how to mix paint and colour to achieve a desired effect
– using brush and palette knife to achieve realistic textures
– how to block in composition before painting
– understanding light source and how it effects rendering of different objects.

On completion of this course students should have completed at least one painting in oils or acrylic paint using still life or images from a picture as their subject matter.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:
1 HB Graphite pencil, 2 Sheets A3 Cartridge Paper, 1 regular white eraser.
There will be additional costs of approx. $50 – $65 for Canvas, paint, brushes etc
Materials list will be given out and discussed at the first class.

Suitable for beginners who want to learn the basic principles of painting and the more advanced painter who wants to refine and develop their skills.
