All sessions will be drawing from the life model, and will include:
– preliminary blocking-in
– quick sketches
– capturing the movement and balance
– foreshortening
– basic anatomy
– detailed long studies
– use of tone (shading) to render form and mass
– developing perceptual skills
– exercises to develop right brain mode of thinking
– developing confidence and risk taking

Learn to draw the human form

Over each session students will complete drawings from a variety of poses, with some leading to more developed and resolved pieces.

This course is suitable for students with no prior experience in life drawing.

Please bring to class:
– HB pencil
– 5 sticks finger medium (finger width) willow charcoal
– kneadable eraser
– 2 x bull dog clips
– approx. 20 sheets bulky newsprint (butchers paper / large rough paper)

materials cost approx $25, depending on what materials you already have at home.
Further materials may be advised in session one.
