Course Summary

This course is designed for students who can converse in French and who wish to maintain their linguistic skills. It is suitable for those who wish to use the language in travel, work or social situations, to explore contemporary French society and culture or to proceed to a highly advanced level of study. Grammar is revised when needed and written work is encouraged.

The course covers the following social cultural themes:

  • the press and television
  • French political system and political parties
  • French philosophers
  • literature and songs
  • tourism, transport, regions of France
  • art, art appreciation, museums
  • health, cuisine, genetic modification, sport
  • environment, energy, French regional parks
  • latest technologies, internet, medical discoveries
  • changes in society, immigration, refugees.

At the end of two semesters of Savoir-Faire students should be able to listen to and understand, read, write with confidence and above all to speak with spontaneity on a broad range of social, political and cultural issues using a very good variety of vocabulary and grammar.

400 - 450 hours of French study.

F YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PREVIOUS LEVEL AT CAE, YOU NEED TO CONTACT CAE FOR A SKILL ASSESSMENT PRIOR TO ENROLLING.

N.B. CAE withdrawal policy does not allow for refund or transfer once the course has started in the event that the level of the class is not suitable.

Ideal for those who have done previous study in French Year 12 VCE, University study( undergraduate levels )or equivalent . This course will help with revising and consolidating linguistic skills for travel, study, work or social situations.
