French: Intermediate 2 is a course ideal for people wanting to broaden their knowledge and understanding of the French language and culture and who want to communicate with friends, family members, colleagues and people in the local community or in countries where French is spoken.

Students  will learn to understand and converse in French  on general topics such as:

  • Modal verbs: devoir, pouvoir and devoir;
  • The conditional;
  • How to interact with formal manners;
  • Asking questions & interrogative words;
  • How to make suggestions, how to accept/refuse invitations;
  • Gender of countries;
  • Which Prepositions to use in front of countries and cities (a/au/en);
  • Developing their conjugation skills with a summary of all the tenses learnt so far;
  • Pronunciation: intonation to indicate approval or refusal. Avoidance of hiatus (cré/er).

By the end of this course students should be able to:

  • Ask a favour;
  • Ask permission to do something;
  • Accept or refuse an invitation and explain the reasons of our choice;
  • Express various degrees of certainty;
  • Talk about the French-speaking world (“la rancophonie”);
  • Interact with different types of people and be comfortable in any social circumstances.

IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PREVIOUS LEVEL AT CAE, YOU NEED TO CONTACT CAE FOR A SKILL ASSESSMENT PRIOR TO ENROLLING.

N.B. CAE withdrawal policy does not allow for refund or transfer once the course has started in the event that the level of the class is not suitable.
