Course Summary

Take the first steps toward drawing confidently by using the design elements and principles to achieve a personal visual solution. Diane Hamilton introduces you to the basic skills of tone, proportion, texture and rendering are developed, while encouraging your personal expression. Hand-eye coordination is explored and visual perception is learned.  Generate a wide range of techniques using grey lead and coloured pencils enabling students to start a new direction in the arts. This class is excellent for developing a folio of work or for beginners just starting to draw.

Learn to draw confidently by using the design elements (line, shape, colour, texture etc) and principles (rhythm, movement, balance etc.) to achieve a personal visual solution.
Generate a wide range of techniques using grey lead and coloured pencils enabling students to start a new direction in the arts.

– Students will acquire skills in using their powers of observation by understanding rhythm, movement, balance, proportion, harmony and unity in a drawing.
– Students will develop individual expression through the use of line, shape, form, space, colour, value and texture in their compositions and understand how to develop eye-hand coordination.

Please bring to first class:  * 2B graphite pencil *A3 sketchbook, cartridge paper *regular white eraser *Metal pencil sharpener. Further material costs will be advised at first class for pencils and acid free paper, etc.

Suitable for beginners who want to learn the basic principles of drawing and the more advanced drawer who wants to refine and develop their skills.
