Course Summary

Dutch Elementary 3 is an 18 hour course designed for beginners with some experience of the language, who wish to learn to speak, read and understand basic Dutch used in everyday situations.

This course builds on the introduction to the language and culture of the Netherlands provided in the first two Dutch Elementary subjects. It will also further develop  and reinforce the listening, speaking, reading and writing skills along with introducing student’s to more complex Dutch grammar.

Along with further developing a student’s speaking and listening skills in Dutch, this course will also focus on writing and introducing several areas of Dutch grammar, including:

–          Verbs of motion

–          Past participles that take both zijn and hebben

–          The Pluperfect tense

–          Compound nouns

Grammar explanations will be integrated into the reading and writing exercises to provide students with practical, hands-on tasks that help consolidate the language skills being learned.

Dutch: Elementary 2 or the equivalent of 36 hours of Dutch studies.

IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PREVIOUS LEVEL AT CAE, YOU NEED TO CONTACT CAE FOR A SKILL ASSESSMENT PRIOR TO ENROLLING.

N.B. CAE withdrawal policy does not allow for refund or transfer once the course has started in the event that the level of the class is not suitable.
