Course Summary

Dutch Elementary 2 is an 18 hour course designed for beginners who wish to learn to speak, read and understand basic Dutch used in everyday situations.

This course gives a solid introduction to the language and culture of the Netherlands. It will prepare students to use Dutch with more assurance in everyday situations. 

The emphasis of the course is on developing both oral and written language skills.  You will further develop your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in this course working with everyday topics.

Topics include:

• Asking for general information.

• Expressing likes and dislikes.

• Giving orders.

• Talking about interests.

• Using interests.

• Listening with understanding to audio and video extracts.

By the end of this course you should be able to use Dutch to:

• Ask and answer questions on topics discussed in class.

• Engage in more elaborate conversations.

• Understand and read short texts fluently.

• Talk about the contents of texts.

• Talk about your interests.

• Compare different things, useful in daily conversations.

Dutch: Elementary 1 or the equivalent of 18 hours of Dutch studies.

IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PREVIOUS LEVEL AT CAE, YOU NEED TO CONTACT CAE FOR A SKILL ASSESSMENT PRIOR TO ENROLLING.

N.B. CAE withdrawal policy does not allow for refund or transfer once the course has started in the event that the level of the class is not suitable.
