Course Summary

Arabic is the second most used written script in the world. The language is spoken by more than 200 million people in more than 13 countries. This provides a vibrant and dynamic context for the study of Arabic. Elementary 3 is an 18-hour course for beginners. The content of the course has been designed to help students master modern standard Arabic (MSA) at a high pace through a systematic approach as presented in the book series Al-Kitaab fii Ta’allum al-‘Arabiyya.

Studying Arabic Elementary 3 will provide an insight into a rich culture. Whether you wish to establish business connections with Arabic-speaking countries, work in health or community centres which offer services to Arabic speakers or plan to travel in countries where Arabic is spoken, Arabic Elementary 3 will set you on the path to acquiring a good knowledge of Modern Standard Arabic.

This course will cover general topics such as:

  • Talking about family relations and life.
  • Talking about work and studies.
  • Describing things, people, and places.
  • Expressing personal opinions on a variety of topics.
  • Intermediate grammar.
  • Arabic culture.

By the end of this course students should be able to: 

  • Understand intermediate grammar and build meaningful sentences.
  • Engage in interesting conversations and exchange opinions.
  • Read a variety of simple texts in Arabic (articles, descriptions, biographies).
  • Produce simple texts in Arabic.
  • Have more knowledge about cultural and social customs in the Arab world. 
  • Have more knowledge of selected Arab countries and cities.

Arabic elementary 2 or familiarity with the Arabic script and completion of prior studies at a level equivalent to Chapters 1-5 in Al-Kitaab.

IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PREVIOUS LEVEL AT CAE, YOU NEED TO CONTACT CAE FOR A SKILL ASSESSMENT PRIOR TO ENROLLING.

N.B. CAE withdrawal policy does not allow for refund or transfer once the course has started in the event that the level of the class is not suitable.

The course is suitable for students who have completed Arabic elementary 2 or students who are familiar with the Arabic script and who have completed studies at a level equivalent to Chapters 1-5 in Al-Kitaab. It caters for people who wish to communicate with friends and family members and those who enjoy the intellectual challenge of mastering a new language.
